Hey all, for a few weeks I have been experiencing random crashes mainly during games but sometimes while idling or doing updates. I have tried every test possible and looked at endless logs in event viewer, even took it to a repair shop (they had my computer for a week, pushed it to it's limits and even played games, and reported no crashes. ???)

i9-9900k with AIO cooler, RTX 2080 Super, 16gb Corsair vengeance pro ram, 1tb seagate hdd, 1tb samsung nvme ssd, corsair 750w psu, ROG Motherboard, connected to 240hz monitor

The repair shop told me there was no immediate concern with any of my parts, which makes sense considering they couldn't get my pc to crash for some reason. I have checked for overheating, bottlenecking and if it's using too much power but none of those things seem to be the problem. I even bought a new power cable and rearranged the electrics in my house but that didn't work either.

The only pattern I notice is the very last log in event finder before the crash says "b// hardrive 1 is healthy no action needed". I couldn't find any sort of link to a crash. All my harddrives are healthy and i have scanned multiple times for viruses or internal errors.

The crashes are random but only really when i am playing games. I have let my computer idle for hours on end with no problem at all, and sometimes it will take anywhere between 2-15 minutes of playing games to crash.

I am starting to lose my head as I've tried everything at my disposal to try and even diagnose the problem, and i am £20 down with no answer still lmao.
ANY sort of help would be appreciated. Thanks

@Bruce

16gb Corsair vengeance pro ram

Can you post a link to the RAM so that we can check the specs.

Same as above for the PSU.

I have been experiencing random crashes

Software such as Windows can crash and when it does crash you get a BSOD and when enabled a crash dmp is generated, programs or games when they crash can on occasion close to the desktop but the computer will still be 100% functional.

Hardware failure such as a weak power supply and/or overheating are not software related and when a computer for example suddenly turns off, freezes or the screen goes black etc the behaviour should be described as the "computer shut down unexpectedly" or froze etc and not as having crashed as the latter implies a software issue as opposed to an obvious hardware issue when described properly.

Having the correct info means that helpers will not be looking for a software issue when the problem is clearly hardware related.

Is the PC blue screening or are programmes closing to the desktop etc.

Download and post.
Thank you here is my speccy info

And BSOD info is attatched

Unexpected shut down everytime. Occasionally I see an actual BSOD but most times it just goes completely blank and shuts off.

I should also mention that I have used my computer for 3 years and never had an issue

There are no crash dmps in you file which means one of two things, Windows is not crashing or dmps are not enabled, please see Configure the dump type info here

dmps are not enabled

Thank you I have activated them now. I got it to bsod again, Here is updated info

BSOD info attatched

ALSO if it helps at all. I can sometimes predict when a crash is happening because some parts of the audio in my game/ music /whatever will cut out while others I can still hear. For example say I am playing COD, I will be able to hear footsteps/ ambience but I can't hear bullets fire from my gun, then seconds later it will inevitably crash. Thoguht it was worth mentioning

We can see a couple of things in your update/s that would explain issues but, still no crash dmp in your Sysnative file, try the method below fo us;

1. Copy any dmp files from C:\Windows\Minidump onto the desktop.
2. Select all of them, right-click on one, and click on Send To> New Compressed (zipped) Folder.
3. Upload the zip folder using the Attach button, bottom left of the dialogue input box

Do you happen to have such a things as a Scarlet.Crush dual shock controller ?

Just a fyi, driver verifier generated crash dmps are not always 100% reliable as it can cause drivers without issues to misbehave.

No I don't. Occasionally I use DS4windows to enable me to use my legitimate ps4 dualshock to play games like Forza etc. I also use Wooting software for Fortnite. However on games like rainbow 6 I don't use either of these softwares yet i still bsod

Just a fyi, driver verifier generated crash dmps are not always 100% reliable as it can cause drivers without issues to misbehave.

Does this have any relevance to why i was stuck in a bsod loop when i tried the driver verifier?

Well you have divers for such a device installed and you can see this for yourself in the attachment below which is from your single crash dmp.

Problem driver ScpVBus.sys info here

Not knowing what is on a computer goes some way to explaining why end users have problems.

As already explained, DV upsets drivers that were previously working without any issue.

Thank you for locating this. I've never even heard of scarlet crush before and certainly have never installed anything to do with it. Is there a simple way I can remove this driver as I can't openly find it in my device manager, unless it is what I have found in the pic attached?

Deleting the driver was a success and I have not had a BSOD all day and have tested it with most tasks and games. Thank you for saving me even tho it was the simplest thing lmao. I still don't know how the driver got there but at least it's gone
